Chapter Eight

Lara woke up to an empty bed. For a second, she panicked. She touched the space Bear had occupied then cursed herself. Hope killed. She should’ve known better than to expect a man like Bear to stick around. Hell, why would he?

Why would anyone want to be with a woman drowning in the debts her dead father left behind? Bear probably had better things to do. He came to Motor City to say goodbye to an old friend, then he got what he came for and more. Of course, she had to be the stupid naïve girl who fell for the dangerous older guy. She really should’ve known better.

The sound of the doorbell made her wary. Wide awake now, Lara wrapped the sheets around her body and padded as quietly as she could toward the door. She hoped whoever was outside wouldn’t hear her footsteps.

What if it was Sonny or Benny coming to collect what she owed? Sure, they told her she had a week, but what if they wanted to give her another scare? This time, she didn’t have Bear to protect her. Fear gripped her heart captive. She took deep breaths and looked through the peephole. Bear stood outside, carrying bags of food.

A wave of relief hit her. Lara suddenly felt guilty for thinking ill of the big biker. She always had trust issues. Look where that nearly got her. She opened the door.

“I went out to get breakfast. I was hoping to surprise you, but I forgot I didn’t have a key,” he explained, closing the door behind him. Then he finally looked her up and down, then licked his lips. “Did you want to surprise me as well, baby?”

She felt herself nod. Bear’s hungry gaze instantly made her hot all over. Lara dropped the sheets, and Bear groaned. He dumped the food on the floor, then yanked her close and covered her mouth with his. There was something erotic about the fact she was entirely naked while he remained dressed.

Bear ran his callused hands down her body. A shudder of anticipation went down her spine. Lara could get used to this, to Bear’s addictive and possessive touches. He rested his hands on her ass cheeks, then gave them a playful slap as he released her mouth.

“Aren’t you a fucking treat for the eyes, baby,” he murmured. Bear lowered his head, then gave both her nipples a kiss. She moaned. Forget breakfast. Even though she smelled waffles, this was so much better.

Bear raised his head. “Tell me. Are you getting wet for me from me just touching you like this?”

“Why don’t you find out?” she asked with a challenge.

Bear grinned. She parted her legs so he could slip his fingers between her thighs. Lara dug her nails into his arm as he felt her wetness.

“Needy girl. Hump yourself on my fingers,” he ordered. He wrapped another hand around her waist, steadying her as she began rubbing herself back and forth over his hand. Lara groaned, half embarrassed and completely turned on by what was happening.
